DAF PH, a subsidiary of Pioneer Truck Parts (TRP), recently inaugurated its sprawling facility of 600 square meters in Laguna. Situated along the Pulo-Diezmo Road, Pulo, Cabuyao, Laguna (across Southbound Tollgate near the exit), the new dealership’s launch was attended by DAF PH officials and representatives from DAF Trucks Netherlands led by Benedict Allen Go, president and chief executive officer of Pioneer Truck Parts and Equipment; and Geert Van Genugten, DAF Regional Sales Director for Asia. Also in attendance were government officials Rommel Gecolea, Mayor of Cabuyao; Nenuca Tangonan, TESDA Regional Director 4A and Rizalina Gallegos.

 

“This is a significant event for DAF as it further strengthens its presence in the Southeast Asian region with the inauguration of this facility in Laguna. Rest assured that DAF will fully support Mr. Go to his expansion programs for the domestic market,” said Genugten in an interview with Fast Times. “In behalf of the people of Cabuyao, we welcome DAF PH. Your facility is in line with the local government’s investment portfolio and we will do our part to make your decision to do business here be reciprocated in terms of government assistance and security,” said Gecolea.

DAF’s Cabuyao showroom houses a stockyard of brand new and reconditioned light to heavy commercial trucks. According to Go, all of their trucks are Euro 5 compliant. The massive parts and equipment warehouse houses a complete inventory of spare parts and accessories, from tires, truck heads, engines, transmission, brake and suspension parts, electronic and wiring harnesses, plus wheels and tires. “We also have a trailer and body building facilities, which can service all the logistics requirements of our clients,” added Go.

Aside from an inventory of trucks and a parts depot, the DAF facility is perhaps the only one in the country with a rolling road. The rolling road is an equipment that accurately measures the speed of a truck. “With this, you don’t need an open road to test drive a truck to know its speed,” explained Go. Imported from the UK, the CT2 Rolling Road comes in four sections, with each bolted securely down for safety. This machine allows all six wheels of the truck to simulate road conditions and at the same time give technical feedback about the truck’s fuel efficiency at different speeds. The CT2 can also be used for engine calibration and brake testing.

The DAF facility is also a one-stop shop for anything trucks, since the facility is equipped with the latest equipment and tools for maintenance, troubleshooting, collision repair and body painting. “This showroom is up to specs with DAF Europe standards. All of our personnel were trained by DAF,” said Go.

Davao facility
A day after the Cabuyao launch, DAF formally opened its doors for business in Davao City, Mindanao’s key investment area and hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte. According to Go, the Davao facility is strategic because of the city’s fast and strong economic growth and development.

DAF PH has done business in the country since last year and already secured key fleet accounts in Luzon and Davao. DAF PH has been supplying trucks to logistics firms and petroleum companies. This is the primary reason why DAF established a showroom, whose content has a display truck parts and accessories. DAF’s domineering presence in the global market helped the local distributor carve inroads into the growing commercial vehicle market
