DIY CAR DETAILING 101

Given the situation our country is facing right now, most establishments are closed hence, car wash or auto detailing shops as well. Now, here are some tips on how to properly give your vehicle a DIY detailing:

Have the interior cleaned first

If you have been planning to spend the whole day cleaning all the parts of your vehicle, you will have to consider starting with the interior. Cleaning the inside of your car first gives it a time to dry while you are cleaning its exterior. Your carpet or floor mats probably needs some cleaning, too.

Use some shampoo on it after you have it wet with water. If you got a rubber one, scrub all the areas thoroughly, scrubbing it will help eliminate deep-seated grime and dirt. Rinse it after you are done with this simple step.

Clean by microfiber towels

Instead of a regular cotton consider using a microfiber towel (sometimes called Chamois) to eliminate the water drops from your car paint. Microfiber towels work simply by absorbing water more efficiently, making sure that there are not any swirls and streaks remaining after you are done wiping.

Scrubbing it too hard will yield some serious issues - you may clutch the film’s end with your towel and end up needing to take off the window tint later that is starting to shed.

Do away with automatic car wash

When the surface of your car is being rubbed against by the flap, it results in petty scratches right on the surface. Especially in car washes at gas stations that are low quality.

Far worse of doing it is opting for the DIY car washing method that utilizes long wand with high pressure of water. Almost all of them have a good brush that most people use for cleaning the exteriors of their cars.

The thing is people also opt for these brushes when they are getting their engines cleaned or sometimes when scrubbing mud off the exterior of their trucks after a long day of driving.

Getting the engine bay cleaned

Not all people realize that the engine bay of the car can probably be as dirty as other areas of your car that you usually focus on when you clean it. Car shows enthusiasts will never overlook this, for sure. But it is really sad to realize that most car owners who rarely service their cars may have never seen what is under their car’s hood.

Cleaning the wheel well

We all know that cleaning the wheels and the sidewalls of the tire are important, but maintaining the cleanliness of the wheel well is just as important. See to it that you are using a brush that has never been used in cleaning the other dirty areas on your vehicle. The wheel well area is usually overlooked thus grimes eventually build up with time and it makes it harder for you to remove them the longer they stay.
