Powerhouse gear in a compact body --- Suzuki Jimny 2020
DESIGN
The design department retained the key parts of the 2019 Suzuki Jimny with some small but impressive upgrades. One of them is the additional body color options and three dual-tone choices.
The latest Jimny is built with strengthened ladder frame, rigid axles and coil springs in front and rear. The 2020 model is 1.2 inches shorter than the 2019 model at 143,5 inches in total and with a slight difference in width by 8 inches.
The visual feel of the 2020 model remains the off-road retro style look with its flat body panels and styling similarities with the Toyota Fj Cruiser, Mercedes G-Class, etc. The styling defines a tall boxy-shaped silhouette combined with chunky fenders and circular headlights. With its tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
WHAT’S INSIDE
The interior of the Jimny houses a straightforward design and durable materials. The dashboard style is inspired with the styling cues of the recent jeep models. The Suzuki Jimny has comfortable seats and good driving position. The cargo space is pretty adequate with just over 3 cubes with all seats in use and is expandable to 13, 3 cubes with the rear seats folded.
The Jimny offers a long list of modern and useful features. Every purchase comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, smartphone and Bluetooth connectivity. It also comes with power and heated seats, heated mirros and more.
The 2020 Jimny gets a number of safety systems. The list include blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, tire pressure monitoring, and late departure warning.
WHERE THE COMPACT POWER IS
The power comes from the 1.5 liter with naturally aspirated four cylinder engine. This is a .2-liter upgrade from its predecessor and provides 100 hp and 95 pound-feet of torque. The 2020 Jimny fit the engine with either a standard 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gear. The standard fit will be the AllGrip Pro with the low range gear that is equipped with part-time all-wheel drive system. The system can switch while the 2H mode with the power for the front wheels when 4H activates all wheels. Hit up rugged off-road terrains by switching to a 4L mode to activate low range gear.
With it’s small size but off-road abilities, the Suzuki Jimny 2020 is indeed an impressive compact vehicle that could bring you to greater heights on the road.
